GARDEN-grown floristry.

What can you do with a town garden? This question in my garden design study led me on a path of production versus 'design’. Rattling around in my head has always been a tension between the enjoyment of classic design principles and a desire to respect and cherish our precious resources.

A further rabbit-hole took me into how we naturally draw the garden to us, and enjoy and design nature into our homes and lives. Flowers, of course! Science on nature connection shows incredible benefits - people who are ill are supported in their healing; people who are rapidly forgetting things remember smells and sounds and flowers from their childhood; I remember the wonderful silk tree in my Mum’s garden and the rose named after her when she died; we share in grief by making floral tributes and we celebrate by producing abundant and colourful flower based displays.

So this is how it began - flowers are for everyone and for all of us. For the beautiful ‘everyday’ moments and in the remarkable occasions, from dinner parties to farewells. If there’s a way to make a moment with nature for you, through flowers, it is my pleasure to do so!

Because I design and consult for other people’s gardens as well as designing my own, I am always pushing to learn more, refine and develop new ideas from my own hands-on experience, not just from books (of which there is also much learning!). In fact, I really went to garden design school so I could learn how to design my own garden just the way I wanted it, with my own principles in mind!

We live where I work and grow my florals - from a home, right here in town. So I garden with the entirety of nature and human health in mind - using organic emulsions and compost applications throughout the seasons to keep the soil humming with biodiversity and life-supporting, healthy ecosystems and people.
